General information:
The guided tours last around 1 to 1.5 hours and are suitable for families. Registration is only required if expressly stated.
Fee according to the administrative regulations for all guided tours, unless otherwise stated:
€8, reduced €4 (for pupils aged 10 and over, students, trainees, volunteers, severely disabled, unemployed, social pass holders).
Please note: Participation in workshops is only possible in conjunction with a guided tour. When booking a workshop

The vegetation history of the post-glacial period

A walk through the forest history of southern Germany

Experience and walk through the climate change of the last 15,000 years: The new field guide describes the layout of the post-glacial vegetation history in the Hohenheim Gardens, the basis on which the garden layout is designed and how climate history affects the vegetation in southern Germany. We cordially invite you to walk through 15,000 years of forest history.

On the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the Hohenheim Gardens, we will have our own pavilion on the University's Open Day, where we will present the Gardens, their history and their current tasks. This is the starting point for some of our guided tours.

The Hohenheim collection greenhouse is open and presents a variety of tropical and subtropical plants. From cacti, carnivorous plants, orchids and begonias to tropical useful plants such as pepper, coffee and banana. The staff on site will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

The use of plants by humans began very early, although little is known about the beginnings. In the Middle Ages, Hildegard von Bingen carried out pioneering research into their usability. The species she suggested and their current use as medicinal plants are demonstrated on this guided tour.

Association of Botanical Gardens e.V.

Annual conference

To celebrate the 250th anniversary together with other botanical gardens, we are hosting the annual association conference (17-20 September 2026) in Hohenheim. On 18 September from 9:30 to 11:15 a.m., there will be a ceremony to mark the reopening of the Exotic Garden after the construction work, during which the water bodies and ponds were renovated.

The event will take place in the Euro-Forum, Katharinasaal at the University of Hohenheim.
